All the new students and families to Kilbirnie School will be officially welcomed during a mihi whakatau on Thursday 24 October.

A mihi whakatau is a traditional Maori welcoming ceremony that has as intention the coming together of two groups to unite as one. It has some of the same elements of a powhiri however it is less formal and appropriately used outside of a marae.
